Here is my next round of tips when learning a new skill. These are supplemental to what I’ve posted a few days back – https://techdadda.com/2023/10/30/5-learning-techniques/
Here are today’s 5 learning techniques.
- Schedule Regular Practice: Block out dedicated time in your calendar for focused practice. Doesn’t everyone use a calendar nowadays? It’s simple to schedule 30 mins every day. Get up early before everyone else and knock this out when you control your day/time.
- Set Deadlines: Even if they’re self-imposed, deadlines can create a sense of urgency. There is an adage that “Work fills time.” Setting deadlines focuses you on thinking and getting work done versus procrastinating.
- Track Your Progress: Use apps, journals, or digital portfolios to monitor your advancements. I like using my blog and LinkedIn. These tools are loaded with stats to measure progress. Also, this links to top #2 – https://techdadda.com/2023/10/30/5-learning-techniques/
- Reward System: Set a reward for yourself when you hit certain milestones. This can be as simple as your favorite bottle of wine, dinner out, or a memento like a new pen.
- Feedback Loop: Regularly ask for feedback from experts or peers in the field. Check in with others who are experts in the field to validate you are picking up the new skill. Use your skill buddy for this – https://techdadda.com/2023/10/30/5-learning-techniques/
